1. What is alkaline water? 

Alkaline water is water with a pH (hydrogen potential) higher than 7.0 on the pH spectrum. 


Natural water on our planet ranges in pH from 6.5 to 9.0, depending on surrounding soil and vegetation, seasonal variations and weather, and even time of day responses to sunlight. Human activities, such as industrial processes that result in a barrage of toxic pollutants, further influence the pH of our water.

Alkaline water can be produced in a number of ways. Santevia alkaline water is created through the addition of natural alkaline minerals which work to raise the pH of the water to between 8.5 and 9.5 on the pH scale.

Drinking and cooking with alkaline water has been found to increase vitality and energy levels, clean and detoxify the body and decrease the symptoms of some illnesses.





2. How does it taste compared to tap water? 

Many people find Santevia alkaline water tastes and feels smoother than conventional tap water.

This difference results from the addition of beneficial trace minerals into the water, which provide a “silky” texture.

Santevia alkaline water can also be used to make better quality—and better tasting—coffee and tea!





3. The tap water where I live is considered good quality drinking water. Why do I need a Santevia alkaline water filter? 

Municipalities deliver water to our homes and businesses that is filtered and then treated with a primary disinfection to kill any bacteria and viruses. This is followed by a secondary disinfection using trace levels of chlorine to prevent the growth of bacteria as it travels to our taps and showers.

Although our tap water is considered safe, the public water supplies in most cities in North America still contain trace amounts of contaminants such as disinfection by-products, pharmaceutical drugs and heavy metals (including lead, iron, and copper from ageing pipes). A good example of such an issue is the water crisis in Flint, Michigan that began in 2014.

Only by using an additional home water filter will you be able to remove these harmful elements from your water. Santevia water filtration products have been tested in our Vancouver-based QA lab as well as in an independent third-party laboratory to reduce chlorine taste and odour, heavy metals, industrial chemicals, pharmaceutical elements and agricultural contaminants.

Additionally, your Santevia alkaline water filter will work not just to purify your tap water but also to improve its quality through raising the pH and re-mineralizing your water with trace minerals such as calcium and magnesium. Not only does this improve the taste of your water, but it also ensures you are getting the mineralized and alkaline water your body needs.





4. What does low ORP mean and why is it important?  

  • ORP stands for Oxidation-Reduction Potential.
  • It is an electrical difference measured on an instrument, e.g., an ORP meter, and usually given in millivolts (mV) which indicates the degree that a substance can gain or lose an electric charge.
  • It is not really “made.” Rather, it is caused by the electrical properties of a substance. For example, water (H2O) has both a positive and a negative end. Think of an egg: take a Sharpie and mark the broad side (+) positive and the narrow side (-) negative. This is caused by the number of electrons distributed in its molecular structure. The 2 hydrogen atoms have no electrons while the O has them. Thus, water has an electrical charge and an ORP.
  • When a substance dissolves in water, it separates into (+) or (-) charges and depending on the electrical properties of the substance’s chemistry can result in a measurement of negative or positive values.
  • Acidic substances in water will result in (+) ORP readings while alkaline substances will result in (-) readings.
  • Water with alkaline substances and (-) ORP is called reducing water and is an anti-oxidant.
  • Water with non-alkaline (not necessarily acidic) substances and (+) ORP is called oxidizing water and is an oxidant.
  • Anti-oxidants (- ORP) are healthy because they can donate electrons to free-radicals (charged particles that “steal” electrons from others) which have the potential to damage cells. They reduce what is called “oxidative stress”, which is an imbalance in the ability of the body to counteract free radicals.
  • Oxidants are great cleaners. They are very good at chemically loosening substances like dirt.
  • Water with (-) ORP has anti-oxidant properties.
  • Measured on an ORP meter, distilled water will measure (+) ORP about 10-200 mV, tap water (+) 150-300 mV, soda (+) >400 mV, Santevia (-) 150-300 mV, ionizers (-) >300 mV. Readings will vary.





5. What are antioxidants and why are they important?  

Antioxidants are molecules that are capable of slowing or preventing the oxidation of other molecules. Oxidation is a chemical reaction that transfers electrons from a substance to an oxidizing agent.

Involved in oxidation reactions are free radicals that work as intermediate steps to make a chain of oxidizing reactions that damage cells. Antioxidants terminate these chain reactions by removing the free radical intermediates and inhibiting other oxidation reactions by being oxidized themselves.

Antioxidants are nature’s way of fighting off potentially dangerous molecules—free radicals—in the body. Free radicals come in forms such as pesticides, plastics and chlorine by-products. They are unstable molecules that feed off otherwise healthy molecules in order to survive. They are introduced into the body every day causing cell damage that, if left unchecked, can lead to chronic or degenerative diseases such as heart attacks, strokes, arthritis, vision problems, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease and some types of cancer.

The body creates its own antioxidants to neutralize free radicals; however, the body is only capable of producing a certain amount of antioxidants on its own. At the same time, we are faced with an increasing number of environmental toxins in everyday life. That is why it is important to eat foods rich in antioxidants such as vitamins C, E, beta carotene, bioflavonoids, zinc, selenium and alpha lipoic acid, and to drink alkaline water to fight free radicals.





6. Is there research to support drinking alkaline water?

There is a growing body of research to support the benefits of maintaining your body at an optimum pH of 7.36. This research also provides an understanding of how drinking alkaline water can assist in maintaining this balance. Well-known organizations, such as the World Health Organization, conducted research regarding the need for mineralized drinking water. A number of authors have summarized this scientific data into easy-to-read books that help educate consumers. Here is a selection of topical books (many more available):

7. Is alkaline water safe for children and pregnant women? 

Alkaline water is perfectly safe for the general population to drink, including children and pregnant women. Alkaline water helps to balance out the acidic foods in their diet. Pregnant women benefit from the added mineral content in Santevia’s alkaline water. While the growing baby takes from its mother’s natural mineral stores, Santevia’s mineralized alkaline water helps to restore the mineral levels in the mother’s body.

Note: If you have a preexisting medical condition, are taking prescription medication, or have any other major health concerns, please consult a licensed health practitioner before drinking alkaline water.





8. Santevia Alkaline Pitchers

8.1 How much water does the Santevia Alkaline Water Pitcher hold?

  • The Pitcher holds about 2.2 liters or 9 cups (75 oz) of filtered Santevia mineralized and alkaline water.
  • Each Filter produces 1,250 glasses of water; you can eliminate over 3,600 plastic bottles every year with a Santevia Pitcher.

8.2 How many stages of filtration does the Santevia Alkaline Water Pitcher have?

  • The Santevia Alkaline Water Pitcher Filter has 6 stages of filtration and mineralization:

a) Stainless Steel Mesh: acts as a pre-filter for sediment.
b) NSF Certified Granulated Activated Carbon: improves taste and odor, filters chlorine, organic chemicals and some heavy metals. The Santevia Pitcher Filter has more than twice the amount of GAC as most pitcher filters. As a result our Filters filter twice as much water, and have a much faster flow rate than the competition.
c) NSF Certified Ion-Exchange Resin: filters dissolved contaminants and other metals.
d) Energy Ceramic Balls: release far infra-red rays to energize and reduce water molecule clusters for better absorption.
e) Negative Potential Balls: reduce ORP, create anti-oxidant water, add trace amounts of hydrogen to the water.
f) Natural Mineral Ceramic Balls: raise pH and add calcium, magnesium and trace minerals to the water.

8.3 Why are there white particles in my Santevia Alkaline Water Pitcher?

  • The white particles are calcium particulates which are NOT harmful to your health.
  • These sometimes appear when you do not user your Pitcher for a few days.
  • To clear these particulates, simply flow additional water through the Pitcher.
  • Sometimes you need to run a few Pitcher fills through to condition your Pitcher Filter—this is not wasting your Filter which will last for 300 liters (we take into account conditioning time periods).

8.4 How long does the Pitcher Filter take to filter water?

  • The water takes an average of about 150 seconds to flow from the top tank to the bottom tank.

8.5 Can I leave the Pitcher on the counter or does it have to be in the fridge?

  • You choose: if you like cold or room temperature water.
  • Remember: room temperature water is easier for your body to digest. 

8.6 What do I do when I go on holidays?

  • When on holidays: empty your Pitcher and put it in the refrigerator.
  • Remember: Filters that have been wetted and left unused for more than 2 months should be replaced.

8.7 My Santevia Alkaline Pitcher water doesn’t taste right, what is happening?

  • If the Filter is not installed correctly, the Filter will not create a water tight seal. This will result in filtered water mixing with unfiltered water. This can affect taste and pH levels.
  • Please ensure that your Pitcher Filter is installed correctly. Firmly press the Filter into the Pitcher until you feel it seat properly into the Pitcher’s upper tank.

8.8 The pH is low during my tests, what is happening?

  • If the Filter is not installed correctly, the Filter will not create a water tight seal. This will result in filtered water mixing with unfiltered water and can affect taste and pH levels.
  • For the testing of water pH we recommend a liquid pH testing solution or an electronic instrument and NOT pH or litmus paper. The reason we do not advise customers to check the pH of our water with paper test strips is due to the formulation of the test strips. pH test strips are typically used for mixed liquids such as blood, urine, or saliva but are not very accurate when measuring the pH of plain water. This is especially true if the litmus paper is not formulated to check for mineral content (calcium, magnesium, manganese, zinc, etc.) which is what makes the Santevia water alkaline; you will get a "neutral" or non-result using such litmus paper.
  • Please use a liquid pH test kit for accurate results.

8.9 I have a coconut allergy and I hear Santevia uses coconut carbon, is this a problem?

  • The Granulated Activated Carbon (GAC) in the Pitcher Filter is made by heating coconut shells to over 800 degrees C, which will reduce it to the elemental state of carbon. There will be no allergens or proteins remaining after the heating process. The Alkaline/Mineral Ceramic Balls are made from inorganic natural minerals (calcium, magnesium, manganese, zinc, etc.) and then fired as well.

8.10 I see black flecks in my Pitcher. What are they and how do I get rid of them?

  • The particles you see in your Pitcher are excess Granulated Activated Carbon (GAC) pieces that have escaped your Filter. These are not harmful to consume and do not reduce the functionality of your Pitcher Filter. They are typically all flushed out in the rinsing/preparation stage, but it is possible for them to appear in your Pitcher during use.
  • To reduce them, please remove your Filter from the Pitcher and re-rinse the Filter under running water. Be sure to shake actively and thoroughly until the water from your Filter runs clear. Tip: place a white surface such as a plate in the sink, this will allow you to see the GAC particles better.

8.11 My countdown clock is off, how do I reset it?

  • Press and hold down the Start button for 5-10 seconds. This will trigger a “hard reset” in the clock’s software and cause the timer to reset to “60 days.” You may see the display flash, go blank, or display the numbers “88” during this process, but when you see “60 days” you are done.
  • Please note that the countdown clock is water resistant, not water proof.  Do not wash or submerge this part, and do not splash excessive water on it. This may cause the clock to short out, and this is not covered under our warranty policy. If the display is non-functional from an unrelated issue this may be a warranty concern.

9. Santevia Gravity Water Systems (Countertop & Dispenser Models)

9.1 How do I condition/prepare my 5-Stage Filter/Fluoride Filter?

  • Run water through the top of your 5-Stage Filter/Fluoride Filter until the water runs clear out the bottom.
  • Shake the 5-Stage Filter/Fluoride Filter while running water through it. The purpose of this step is to remove any excess GAC (Granulated Activated Carbon) pieces.
  • Place a white surface (i.e. plate, or Countertop Lid) in the sink under the 5-Stage Filter/Fluoride Filter. This will let you more easily see the black GAC pieces.

9.2 How do I condition/prepare my Ceramic Pre-Filter?

  • Soak the Ceramic Pre-Filter in cool water for ten minutes.
  • Using the included grey scrub pad (or equivalent), scrub the top of the Ceramic Pre-Filter using moderate pressure. Note: You are removing a thin layer of ceramic material, this is normal and by design.

9.3 Im missing the Ceramic Pre-Filter washers and Pre-Filter nut.

  • Please check the underside of your Ceramic Pre-Filter. The two silicon washers and the Pre-Filter nut are pre-installed on the Filter itself.

9.4 How do I condition/prepare my Mineral Stones? 

  • Rinse the Mineral Stones (grey and white together).
  • Boil the Mineral Stones for 1-2 minutes, then let air dry.

9.5 What are the dimensions of the Santevia Countertop and Dispenser models?

  • The Countertop is 23.5 inches in height and 12.25 inches in diameter at the bottom.
  • The Dispenser is 17.5 inches in height (excluding the Float Valve) and 10.5 inches in diameter at the bottom.
  • The top tank holds 5 liters or 1.32 gallons and the bottom tank holds a maximum of 10 liters or 2.64 gallons.

9.6 What is the difference between the Santevia Countertop and Dispenser models?

  • The Countertop System is a free standing, independent unit that needs no attachments or plug-ins. It can function pretty much anywhere, and will produce room-temperature water.
  • The Dispenser System must be paired with a compatible third-party water cooler unit, as it is designed to work in tandem with one of those units. Water from the Dispenser System flows into the water cooler unit and is then available hot/cold, depending on the model of the water cooler used.
  • Both systems use the same filters (5-Stage Filter/Fluoride Filter, Ceramic Pre-Filter, and Mineral Stones).

9.7 How do I choose a water cooler for my Santevia Dispenser System?

  • There are plenty of compatible water cooler units on the market; they need to fit the following qualifications:

a) Relatively flat top, for the Dispenser to sit on.
b) They must have a removable bottle collar.
c) Once the bottle collar is removed, there must be at least a 6 inch void space remaining, in order to accommodate the Float Valve.

9.8 I see green stuff in the bottom of my system, what is it?

  • The most likely culprit is algae. Algae are a simple plant that can range from microscopic to quite large seaweed like organisms.
  • Algae are an environmental issue and are not caused by the filtration system/filtration media. Algae like to grow in environments with clean water, direct sunlight and/or heat. Even without direct sunlight or proximity to a heat source, algae can bloom in clear stagnant water over many days.
  • Bright ambient light is also enough to cause algal growth. This is further exacerbated by the removal of chlorine from the water as chlorine helps control algae.
  • Algal growth can happen due to many environmental factors, e.g. high algal spore count in the air or water, as well as a possibly higher than normal phosphate content due to a change in your source water.

9.9 How do I deal with algae?

  • Although not common, if algae are growing in your Santevia System, it can easily be remedied by following these steps:

a) Clean the system with a 25% solution of white vinegar or a 3% solution of hydrogen peroxide.
b) Use a soft, new sponge to scrape the algal film off the affected components. Please refrain from utilizing a used kitchen sponge as this usually contains bacteria from food particles.
c) Use a Q-tip to further remove any remaining algae in spots that are difficult to reach with a sponge.
d) Thoroughly wash, then dry, the cleaned system. Please note that some dish detergents contain phosphates that can encourage algae growth.
e) Boil the Mineral Stones for between 5-10 minutes then let air dry.
f) Replace the 5-stage/Fluoride Filter if affected, or if it is past its Filter life.

  • For optimum performance of your Santevia system, replacing the water at least once per day is recommended.

9.10 Do I have to change my 5-Stage Filter/Fluoride Filter at the specified life even if it’s only me drinking the water?

  • Yes, regardless of usage or quantity of water the 5-Stage Filter/Fluoride Filter needs to be changed at their specified lives.
  • The 5-Stage Filter is rated for 4-6 months of use.

a) If you are a family of two or less, err towards 6 months.
b) If you are a family of four or more, err towards 4 months.

  • The Fluoride Filter is rated for up to 4 months of use.
  • You must not go longer than the rated filter life, regardless of the amount of water filtered, because bacteria can start to build up in your Filter if pushed beyond its rated lifespan.

9.11 How do I adjust the Float Valve on my Dispenser model?

  • The cup of the float valve is attached to the stem by a threaded piece.
  • Hold the stem by placing your thumb and finger on the threads and twist the cup.
  • You can lengthen or shorten the stem by twisting the plastic lock nut up or down the stem.
  • Lengthen the stem if your dispenser overflows or leaks.
  • Shorten the stem if your dispenser does not fill enough.

9.12 What do the Mineral Stones do?

  • The Mineral Stones contain calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium, sodium, zinc and other trace minerals.
  • The Mineral Stones continuously release ionized minerals for up to 2 years. The highly porous mineral stones aid in the oxygenation of water and in the adjustment of the water to mildly alkaline.
  • The Mineral Stones will also maintain the pH shift produced by the 5-Stage/Fluoride Filter while the water sits in the Lower Tank

10. Santevia Alkaline Sticks 

10.1 How do I clean my Santevia Water Stick product? How often? (Alkaline, Power or Recovery)

  • Rinse prior to first use and weekly thereafter.
  • For best results, use boiling water.
  • Do not use soap.

10.2 How do I use my Santevia Water Stick product?

  • Fill bottle or glass with water, submerge and shake or stir for 30 seconds.
  • Water will reach optimum pH (and chlorine reduction with Power or Recovery Stick) within 3 to 5 minutes.

10.3 Can I leave my Santevia Water Stick product in my water bottle?

  • Yes, you can leave the Stick in your water bottle or remove it before drinking. This is up to your personal preference.

10.4 If I leave my Stick in my bottle for 10 minutes or more, will the pH continue to rise?

  • Santevia products are designed to shift the pH of the input water 1.52.5 pH points. For example, if your input water is 7.0 pH, after adding in a Stick we would expect a result of 8.59.5 pH. This shift takes place within three to five minutes of the Stick being added to the water.
  • If you leave your water in the bottle for a long period of time (48 hrs. +) please discard and refill; some people may find the mineral taste in the water too strong. At this point the pH may be higher than recommended.

10.5 What is the difference between the three Santevia Water Sticks?

  • The Alkaline Stick is for use with filtered water, as it alkalizes and mineralizes water. That is its sole function, it does not have any filtration capability.
  • The Power Stick is for use with tap or filtered water, as it reduces chlorine, as well as alkalizes and mineralizes water.
  • The Recovery Stick is for use with tap or filtered water, as it alkalizes, mineralizes and adds hydrogen into your water (a great antioxidant).
  • All Sticks have a lifespan of 3 months (180 liters).

10.6 What minerals are in my Stick?

  • The primary minerals added by our Sticks are calcium and magnesium, along with other trace minerals.

10.7 Can I use one of the Water Sticks in a larger container? (non-Santevia pitcher/RO (Reverse Osmosis) Tank/water jug)

  • Yes, however; the Santevia Water Stick products are designed and tested with a 500-700ml bottle/container in mind. They are not designed to be used in larger containers, thus we cannot guarantee pH levels or level of filtration. Your results may vary.

10.8 I see white particles in my water bottle after using the Stick. What is this?

  • The white particles you see are by-products of the chlorine reduction process. While typically dissolved in the water, a large quantity can cause them to solidify into small white grains. In cold/very cold water, solubility of the by-products can decrease and you may find that sightings of the precipitate increases. This is not harmful to consume.

10.9 There are bubbles in my water bottle when using the Santevia Water Sticks. Is this normal?

  • Yes, the Recovery Stick (and to a lesser extent the Power Stick) produce hydrogen gas. This can appear as little bubbles on your Stick. This is by design as hydrogen is a great anti-oxidant.

10.10 My Stick has rusted. What do I do?

  • At Santevia, we use the highest quality materials possible. The tubes and caps of the Santevia Sticks use #304 stainless steel. Please note that "stainless" does not mean "stain proof", so it is possible for this metal to rust in unusual or extreme circumstances.
  • When added to the water—even in very small amounts—salts or acids like lemon juice, lime juice and vinegars can cause issues.

11. Santevia Shower Filter

11.1 What does the Santevia Shower Filter do?

  • The Santevia Shower Filter reduces sediment, chlorine and heavy metals, resulting in clean, refreshing water for use on your hair, skin and scalp.

11.2 What is NMC? 

  • NMC (Nano-Metal Clusters) is a proprietary shower filtration media used in the Santevia Shower Filter. NMC have better filtration capabilities compared to KDF (Kinetic Degradation Fluxion) 55, which is a common shower filter media.
  • NMC can reduce free chlorine, heavy metals, and other contaminants like ammonia and organics.
  • NMC is also more effective than carbon (GAC). Water flowing through a shower filter is at high pressure and high heat. These two factors are difficult to compensate for with a traditional carbon filter, but with NMC they are not a problem.
  • The Santevia Shower Filter also has mineral balls and non-phosphorus micro balls to naturally soften the water.

11.3 What is the lifespan of the Santevia Shower Filter?

  • The Shower Filter is rated for approximately 800 10-minute showers or a maximum time of up to 6 months.

11.4 How big is the Santevia Shower Filter?

  • 5.25 inches in length and 2.75 inches in diameter.

11.5 Can I install the Santevia Shower Filter backwards?

  • No, the Santevia Shower Filter is designed to have water flow through the stages in a specific way. If you install the filter in the reverse position, that will hinder performance.

11.6 The instructions state to not install with a “low-flow” or “stop-flow” shower head. What does that mean?

  • In order to get the correct pressure for proper filtration, the Santevia Shower Filter needs to flow at 1.6 gallons per minute (6 liters per minute). This means that shower heads that purposely restrict water flow will most likely result in sub-par water pressure, and as a result will not be compatible with the Santevia Shower Filter.

11.7 There is a small leak at the connection with the pipe/shower head. What is going on?

  • The Santevia Shower Filter’s threads are a “one size fits all” approach. On occasion, with a worn out pipe/shower head or a slightly incorrect fit, there will be some leakage. We recommend installing the Santevia Shower Filter with plumber's tape on the connections in order to prevent any leaks. 

11.8 How do I dispose of the Santevia Shower Filter?

  • Place your used Filter with your plastic recycling and install a new Shower Filter.

11.9 Can I use the Santevia Shower Filter with a telescoping/wand style shower head?

  • Yes, this should work if the Filter can still be installed on the pipe coming from the wall, and the shower head is not “low-flow”.

11.9 My Santevia Shower Filter was working for a few months, then the flow reduced to very little/none at all. What is going on?

  • While the Santevia Shower Filter is wonderful for reducing things like chlorine and heavy metals, it is not designed for water supplies with high levels of sediment. It may be that your Filter has been clogged by a high number of particles. This is not a warranty issue as reducing a high number of particles is outside of the Shower Filter’s purpose. If your water source contains a high level of sediment, you may need to replace your Santevia Shower Filter more frequently.

12. Santevia Power Pouch

12.1 What do I use the Power Pouch for? 

  • To reduce chlorine and mineralize (raise the pH) of tap water.

12.2 How long does the Power Pouch last? 

  • The Power Pouch is rated for 10 bottles of water

12.3 What is in the Power Pouch?

12.4 How do I use the Power Pouch?

  • Place into cup, glass or water bottle. Add water. Steep for one minute or shake for 30 seconds.

12.5 Can I leave the Power Pouch in my water all the time?

  • Although the Power Pouch can be left in water, we recommend that the Pouch be removed if not used for an extended period of time (e.g. 24 hours or more). The Pouch works best with frequent changes of water. We encourage people to drink more water.

12.6 Will the pH continue to rise for as long as the Power Pouch is in the water?

  • Yes, the Power Pouch will continue to re-mineralize the water for the whole time it is left in water and may raise pH >10 over extended periods of time, so we encourage customers to refresh water every day. The Pouch is designed to shift pH of water by 1-2 pH points within a few minutes.



13. Santevia General Questions

13.1 Are the Santevia products BPA free?

  • Yes all Santevia products are made without BPA & BPB.

13.2 How can I test the pH of my water?

  • For the testing of water pH we recommend a liquid pH testing solution or an electronic instrument.
  • Note: you cannot use pH litmus paper to test water. We do not advise customers to check the pH of our water with litmus paper test strips due to the formulation of the test strips. pH test strips are typically used for mixed liquids such as blood, urine, or saliva but are not very accurate when measuring the pH of plain water. In addition, if the litmus paper is not formulated to check for mineral content (calcium, magnesium, manganese, zinc, etc.) which is what makes the Santevia water alkaline, you will get a "neutral" or non-result. Expected pH results are between 8.5-9.5 pH assuming the input water is a pH of 7.0.

13.3 I am going on vacation, what do I do with my Santevia system?

  • Pitcher: Empty your Pitcher and put in the refrigerator.
  • Stick/Flask: Air dry the product.
  • Gravity System (Countertop or Dispenser): Drain all water out of the system. Place the 5-Stage/Fluoride Filter in a plastic bag in the fridge. Do not store a used filter for more than 2-3 months.

13.4 What type of testing is done on the Santevia products?

  • Santevia has its own in-house testing laboratories: Research and Development as well as Quality Assurance.
  • Santevia products are regularly tested at our in-house laboratories using the NSF 42 protocols, with the goal of ensuring that they meet or exceed NSF 42.
  • All new PO/Lot #s are tested before being released into the marketplace.
  • We also have our products tested by an independent third party laboratory on a regular basis to ensure that our products meet the standards set out for quality and performance.

13.5 I have a coconut allergy; can I use your systems as they use coconut carbon?

  • The primary two components for the Pitcher Filter are Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) and the Alkaline/Mineral ceramic balls. The GAC is made by heating coconut shells to over 800 degrees C, which reduces it to the elemental state of carbon. There are no allergens or proteins remaining/that could survive after that heat is applied. The Alkaline/Mineral ceramic balls are made from inorganic natural minerals (calcium, magnesium, manganese, zinc, etc.) and are fired as well. The Countertop model also uses these same methods and materials in manufacturing. This process destroys any proteins that would trigger an allergic response.
